Since 2012, we have coordinated STOP UDAROM—the most comprehensive social campaign focused on stroke prevention in Poland. In collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim and leading Polish patient organizations, including the Stroke Foundation and the Stroke Survivors Association – Support Matters!, we aim to raise awareness about stroke through extensive educational efforts.
Our campaign focuses on increasing public knowledge about what a stroke is and how to recognize its symptoms. We highlight the critical aspects of treatment and rehabilitation for stroke survivors and educate the public on prevention strategies, including addressing the underlying causes of stroke, such as atrial fibrillation—a heart arrhythmia that increases the risk of stroke by five times.
The campaign engages a wide range of stakeholders, including top medical authorities in neurology and cardiology, scientific societies, as well as experts in healthy living. Additionally, well-known figures from culture, sports, and media have lent their support. Stroke survivors also share their personal stories, illustrating life after a stroke. Activities surrounding World Stroke Day, particularly the Stroke Alert Project and various public events, have consistently garnered significant media attention each year.
The STOP UDAROM campaign has been honored with the Złoty OTIS z Diamentami Trust Award, a prestigious recognition for the best health and prevention program.
