For two days, we transformed Warsaw’s most prestigious street, Nowy Świat, into a humanitarian village under the auspices of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO). Our goal was to raise public awareness about the importance of providing assistance in all corners of the world, explaining the mechanisms of humanitarian aid, and fostering solidarity with victims of crises caused by droughts, floods, fires, earthquakes, and wars.
In collaboration with major NGOs, we set up a field hospital, demonstrated water purification methods, showcased mine-clearing techniques, and provided first aid training. For students, teachers, and parents, this event offered a unique life lesson.
The event on Nowy Świat also hosted the finalists of a nationwide competition for schools, where students participated in virtual humanitarian missions through the Polish version of the Food Force Game. This innovative educational game was developed by the European Commission and the United Nations
